Emotional situations are not the only things that can affect you mood. The color of a room that you are in has a profound effect on your emotions too. Color psychology has been used for therapeutic purposes. The psychology of color has been used successfully in the field of advertising and interior decoration and even in the food industry.

There is an emotion that is twinned with a specific color. Blue is quite sad yet tranquil. Green is envious but calming. Red is angry but highly motivated. White is pure, calm and clean. Yellow is happy but is sometimes hyperactive. Using any of these colors in its purest form without any complementary color to neutralize it would surely (and literally) be painful. However, colors mixed in the right proportion and combined with the ideal complimentary hue would do wonders to a room.

Color is emotion. Red is identified with anger. Blue is sad. Green is envy. White is pure. Yellow is happy. It is definitely intimidating to use these colors because of the association but mixed in the right shade and in combination with other hues, and then you can have a room that is alive and cozy.

What color combination is best suited to a bedroom? For a child’s bedroom, choose a color that is both calming and restive as after all, the bedroom is a place to sleep and not play. Shades of blues, greens, yellows and lilacs are restive and calming. You can combine the chosen color with neutrals such as beige, off-white and ecru. If a girl wants pink, then give her pink as accents. Pink, green, ecru would basically give you a Shabby Chic® motif

For a living room, your color palette depends on the style or theme of your room. If your house has a country or Arts and Crafts theme, then blue, yellow and whites will do. One should go in for quality furnitureto get the country feel and look. You can add other colored modern decorative pillows or area rugs to complement the seat.

If you are keen on being linear and Zen-like but would like a dash of excitement then choose neutrals and soft grays but accent your living room furniture with a daring red chaise lounge. Your guests will have fun figuring out how to use the contraption.

The dining rooms should be bright and breezy. It does not matter what style of motif you’ve an essential color to be used in the dining room is the active colors – red, orange and yellow. This concept does not mean that there is a need for you to start painting your dining room walls red or orange. The colors mentioned could be used as accents like in table napkins, plates, wall decors and even place mats. You even have the option of settling for red or orange dining chairs.
