Ideas to Update your New Interior

How better to chase away the winter blahs than to do a bit of redecorating in the home. Being the beginning of a new year, this is the ideal time to update your interior decorate to the latest in color and fashion trends. Or maybe you just bought a new home and are ready to make it your own.
This is an exciting season for home decor. Gone is the trend of minimalism in home decor and everything baroque is in. That means more flare and fancy to your decor, which can take the form of fabric patterns, art and accessories or all the details like lighting and window treatments.
This is also the season of neutrals on neutrals. “They” are saying that gray is the new black. That means gray tones, including silver, can be used as accents or base colors in just about any combination. The neutrals on neutrals concept means you can mix up shades of beige, taupe, brown, gray and black, incorporating a few of them into a room instead of just one.
So some examples of how to incorporate the baroque into your decorate is through furniture fabric. Patterns are popular, but not just anything. Multi-colored florals won’t do. Try more earthy foliage themes, like ferns fronds, leaves and trees. Instead of a tiny repeated pattern go for larger, bolder prints. Choosing a couple of different prints in the same color is a great choice for balancing interesting with coordinated. Make sure furniture doesn’t have too a lot color combinations. If you choose furniture in any of the neutral colors mentioned above, then go with something brighter and bold for the walls. If you go for bright furniture, attempt coordinating modern decorative pillows and walls in a neutral or metallic color.
For home accessories, choose funky vases and lamps in interesting shapes. Ultra-modern minimalist is out, replaced by just about anything vintage.
But, you know, you don’t have to follow trends. You are the one who has to live in your home, not some trend-setting decorateer. But trends are good for implanting ideas and for giving you a theme to go on. Plus, you can follow trends but still keep your own feel. A good guideline is to pick a theme, or a blend of up to two themes, and stick to it. For colors, pick a favorite item, be it a vase, painting or pillow, and decorate the room around it. Or pick your favorite color and exploit it. Whatever you do, consulting trends can be a great resource, but in the end, be sure to decorate a room you will be happy to live in for at least a couple of years.

When planning the space, the furniture is very important. Furniture with a lighter footprint won’t suck up as much space from the floor, so choose items with lighter frames. The space around the furniture is also important – this is referred to negative space.

You may already have an electric wine-cooling unit, but if you’re looking to build a larger collection or plan to have bottles aging over a period of time, you may consider building a wine cellar. The five main elements in properly storing your wine are light, vibration, temperature, humidity and the angle of storage.By attending to these needs you can nurture a full harvest.

I’m wondering if it’s worth continuing the series or not… “In my wildest dreams, you always play the hero. In my darkest hour of night, you rescue me, you save my life.” –Bliss and Cerney ********************************************** Forty five minutes later, Emily heard the doorbell ring. Surprised, she straightened her white and yellow sundress and answered the door. Nick was standing on the other side, buttoning up his light blue dress shirt, his curly hair still dripping from his shower. She noticed that one of his Converse was still untied and that his collar was still flipped up. “Hi,” she said, stifling a giggle. “Forty five minutes,” he told her triumphantly, placing his Rolex around his wrist. “I’m very proud of you,” she teased, stepping aside and letting him inside the house. The smell of bacon and pancakes hit Nicks nose as soon as he stepped inside the door. Emily led Nick silently into the kitchen, where his brothers, Brooklyn, and Danielle were aiding themselves to eggs, miscellaneous fruits and an array of juices, along with the bacon and pancakes he smelled before. “Who did all this?” he asked, gesturing to the impressive spread before him. “Me,” Emily responded breezily, moving past him to grab two plates. Handing one to him, she smiled warmly. “Help yourself!” He glanced over at Joe, then back to Emily. “Wait. How did you get him awake?” “The smell of …
